V-Bucks are the most valuable currency in Fortnite. They are used to purchase almost everything in the game, from cosmetic items to the Battle Pass. Unfortunately, while some of them can be earned for free, the main source of V-Bucks is real money.
A recent glitch allowed players to get the premium currency for free, but Epic Games patched it in less than a day. Now, the Fortnite developer announced that players who used the glitch will have their V-Bucks removed.
If you used the glitch, the currency should still be in your account. However, it will be removed shortly.
The Fortnite glitch to get free V-Bucks was reverted
Back in October 2025, Epic Games released Dumb Ways to Die, a popular mobile game, on the Epic Games Mobile Store. Players who purchased the game received a bundle with a back bling and an emote. However, players who purchased the game and already owned the bundle instead received 800 V-Bucks.
This week, Epic made the mobile game free on Android worldwide and iOS in the European Union. Unsurprisingly, players have found a way to get the game even without a mobile device. Furthermore, they figured if they obtain it twice, which usually would not be possible, they will get both cosmetic items and V-Bucks.
The glitch essentially allowed players to make duplicate purchases on the store, which wasn’t intended. Due to this, Epic disabled the bundle of cosmetics and will enable it again on January 22 at 11 AM Eastern Time. The Fortnite creator also revealed that everyone who received V-Bucks using the glitch will be affected by the revocation.

“Fortnite players who redeemed multiple free copies and incorrectly received 800 V-Bucks will have the V-Bucks removed in the coming days,” Epic posted on X.
If you used the glitch to get V-Bucks, please keep in mind that you will lose the premium currency soon. If you spend it on cosmetic items, your balance may be negative once Epic removes it.
Fortunately, you can earn free V-Bucks in every season, and even unlock a couple of free Fortnite skins. Whether you have the premium Battle Pass or not, you can unlock cosmetics by simply leveling up, and the easiest way to do so is by using XP maps in Fortnite.
