Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima recently announced new details surrounding upcoming new projects: Phsyint and OD. In an absolutely bizarre turn of events, the historic game director also announced his very own credit card.
Announced during his studio’s 10th anniversary livestream, the official Kojima Productions Credit Card is launching exclusively in Japan sometime in the second half of 2026. In collaboration with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, aka MUFG, the credit card is also region locked to Japan.
According to Hideo Kojima, the new credit card will offer some form of exclusive experience alongside its normal use of, well, buying things which you actually pay for after the fact.
During the announcement, Kojima didn’t actually reveal the design of the new card as it’s currently still in the design process. However, the unique credit card’s design will be revealed at a later date.
For diehard fans of the game director, using the bespoke credit card does come with a major bonus. When spending with the card, you’ll earn rewards points which can then be used to redeem Kojima Productions rewards. There might even be exclusive rewards only available to users of the credit card.
Of course, at the end of the day, the Kojima Productions Credit Card is just, well, a credit card. That’s all it is. All the Tactical Spending Action you do with it is up to you.
Alongside the very surprising financial announcement, Hideo Kojima did also reveal new details surrounding his upcoming projects. While Konami works on new Metal Gear Solid tiles, Kojima is focused on brand-new projects that are unlike anything else made before.
Phsyint, a spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid, is still a number of years away, and OD has been described as “a game and at the same time a movie and at the same time a new form of media” by Xbox boss Phil Spencer.
“We have one goal in mind: to bring Kojima’s vision to life for all players everywhere,” he continued. Call him Phil Spender because that can’t be cheap!
