Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong finally has a release date after seven years of waiting. Releasing on September 4, 2025, the upcoming indie game is just the start with post-launch content also already in the works.

During the 2025 Gamescom celebrations, fans of Hollow Knight were finally able to get their hands on the long-awaited indie game, and some hardcore fans have already tried speedrunning the game during this period.

In a hilarious bit, Hollow Knight speedrunner BlueSR went to Gamescom 2025 to try and speedrun the unreleased game’s demo. Uploaded to YouTube, the content creator was able to beat one of the Silksong demo’s two levels in just two minutes and twenty-six seconds.

Recorded via a camera in their chest pocket, the speedrunner sprinted through the Deep Docks area. This required the player to grab the Dock Key and beat the Lace boss fight, and the YouTuber did it much faster than expected.

“Let me tell you, man is Silksong good,” the YouTuber said. “I’m genuinely awestruck by the quality on display. Hornet’s moveset is awesome, and a lot of it is being carried by the sprint ability. Once you get the hang of it, you start zipping around enemies in a fashion that is hard to describe as anything but Celeste-ish.”

The YouTuber admitted that their playthrough was “unpolished”, which anyone would expect from a demo playthrough of an unreleased game, and their time was affected by the fact that they’re typically not a controller user.

BlueSR also released a second video where they attempted a 100% speedrun of the Silksong demo’s two levels. For this video, the YouTuber collected every item, talked to NPCs and fought every enemy in just ten minutes and 36 seconds.

Honestly, no one does it like Hollow Knight fans. Who could’ve expected a Silksong speedrun before Silksong?
