Superhero fighting game Invincible VS has yet to show off its roster of playable superheroes and supervillains. However, in a recent interview, art director Dan Eder confirmed than the upcoming game will have a pretty sizeable group of player characters in launch.

Announced earlier this year, Invincible VS is a “brutal superhero 3v3 tag fighting game”. Players will be able to throw down as the titular Invincible, Omni Man, Atom Eve and more with gory 3D-animated visuals and mechanics forged by former Killer Instinct devs.

Speaking to The Gamer, Eder still didn’t confirm how many characters will be available on launch, but they teased that players will have access to more than 15 heroes and villains. While the roster will primarily focus on characters from the Amazon Prime TV show, comic-only characters may also appear.

“We haven’t announced an exact number yet, but I can tell you that it’s going to be probably more than people think,” Eder told the outlet. “I can say between 15 and 20 for the launch roster.”

“We lean more on the show for the most part. But we do have certain elements that have not yet been shown there,” the art director continued. “Either characters or certain things that are going to be shown in the upcoming seasons. We want them to be represented in our game. We are fully immersed in both the show and the comics.”

Alongside the roster size, Eder discussed the game’s place in the wider fighting game community. As the title is being helmed by ex-Killer Instinct devs, the team is designing the title to have a degree of longevity within the FGC. (Can it survive alongside Street Fighter 6, Virtua Fighter, Tekken 8, and more?)

“We’ve been very clear that the game definitely caters towards an FGC crowd,” Eder continued. “People who really live and breathe fighting games. They’re going to take the time to understand all the intricacies and the complexities of the fighting system. But we always keep the casual gamer in mind.”

Invincible VS is currently slated to release sometime during 2026 for PC, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.
