Marvel Rivals players will soon have another chance to stock up on free premium currency. Ahead of the Season 8.5 launch, NetEase confirmed that the upcoming Summer Festival event will reward players with a total of 2,500 free Units. These will be obtainable through challenges and daily login bonuses, making it one of the game’s biggest giveaways in recent memory.

The announcement came from game director Guangyun Chen during the latest Dev Vision video, where he outlined some of the content arriving with the mid-season update. The developer also revealed all the upcoming buffs and nerfs in Marvel Rivals Season 8.5.

How to get free Units in the Marvel Rivals summer event?

According to Chen, the Summer Festival event begins on Thursday, June 18. During the event, players will be able to complete challenges and claim daily login rewards for a combined total of 2,500 Units. While NetEase has not yet revealed a detailed breakdown of every reward, the announcement confirms that both gameplay participation and daily logins will contribute toward the total amount.

The giveaway immediately drew comparisons to the Anniversary event in late 2025. That event also rewarded players with a large amount of free Units, although part of the distribution ended up generating controversy within the community. While players could earn Units during that event, some of them were classified as limited-time Units and had to be spent before they expired.

NetEase has not yet clarified how the 2,500 Units from the Summer Festival event will be distributed, so there is a possibility that a portion of the currency could follow a similar structure.

Even with this uncertainty, 2,500 free Units would represent one of the largest giveaways Marvel Rivals has offered. The currency can be used toward various cosmetics, making the event especially valuable for players who prefer earning premium rewards without spending real money.

NetEase has been increasingly generous with free cosmetics and currencies throughout recent seasons. At the moment, players can also unlock a free Ultron skin and a few more cosmetics available through Marvel Rivals codes. The upcoming mid-season update will likely bring at least one more free skin through an event and a ranked skin for Cyclops, whose abilities have been revealed.
