NetEase released more buffs and nerfs for Marvel Rivals with the August 21 update. The update went live on Thursday at 9 AM UTC, bringing lots of new content. Besides balance changes, the game developer brought a new event, another limited-time game mode, and a new map.
Next time you launch Marvel Rivals, you will notice the latest balance changes, so let’s check them all.
More buffs and nerfs arrived with the latest Marvel Rivals patch
Blade was released in Marvel Rivals with Season 3.5 on August 8. The 21st Duelist was initially deemed too strong. However, once players got the hang of him, this opinion quickly changed. While the vampire hunter is certainly fun to play with, there are many Duelists who are better than him. Due to this, it’s no surprise that he received a buff with the latest update.
Blade received the following balance changes:
- Increased lifesteal gained during Bloodline Awakening from 60% to 65%
- Reduced self-healing reduction from 40% to 35%

On the other hand, two heroes were not so lucky. The newest Marvel Rivals patch brought nerfs for Loki and Human Torch, reducing their effectiveness on the battlefield. Both characters received damage nerfs, and with this change, flanking with Loki is no longer an effective strategy.
Human Torch changes:
- Reduced Flame Field damage over time from 25/s to 20/s
- Reduced Pyro-Prison damage over time from 50/s to 40/s
Loki nerf:
- Reduced Mystical Missile damage dealt by Loki and his illusions to enemies from 30 to 25
The next Marvel Rivals update is set to come out on Thursday, August 28. This will be the penultimate patch of Season 3.5 and may bring even more balance changes. For now, NetEase revealed that the update will bring Phoenix Chaos, a new skin for Scarlet Witch.
