NetEase recently released a cross-progression feature in Marvel Rivals. To be more accurate, the feature is out in its early phase, and players can sign up to test it. As the game developer previously revealed, cross-progression will be released for everyone in Season 5, although it may not be as great as many players had expected.
Cross-progression is excellent for those who intend to switch systems in the future. Unfortunately, it’s nearly useless for players who have already played on multiple systems. These players are unable to merge their accounts, which means that they need to leave some skins behind.

Marvel Rivals does not bring account merging with the cross-progression feature
This week, NetEase opened a cross-progression test, allowing players to sign up for it. Thanks to this, we can see how the feature works and what’s waiting for us in Season 5. While this feature is fantastic for many players, there is still room for improvement. One major flaw is the lack of account merging, which is quite disappointing.
When players want to use cross-progression in Marvel Rivals, they must choose a primary account. This is the account that is used for progression across multiple platforms, while the other accounts fade away. In other words, the other accounts are still active, but stats, skins, and any other progress made on them, cannot be transferred.
While the Marvel Rivals creator never promised account merging, many players are disappointed. They were hoping that NetEase would do something similar to what Epic Games did with Fortnite in the past, which is allowing account merging for a limited time. Unfortunately, this is not the case, and players who play on multiple platforms will have to choose which account they want to keep.
A shared costume library may be introduced in the future, and we hope this will be the case. In the meantime, we will have to choose our favorite account and stick to it.
