Adding a PvE mode to Marvel Rivals has turned out to be a massive success. Since it came out, the player count has drastically increased, and it likely won’t slow down anytime soon. It appears that the community wanted to take a break from PvP action, which is why it’s no surprise that NetEase plans to release even more PvE modes in the future.

The game developer hit the jackpot with the Marvel Zombies mode. Now, it’s time to come up with more ideas and add fresh new content that players will enjoy. Danny Koo, the executive producer of the game, revealed the plans for the future, which include more PvE modes.

Speaking for Gosu Gamers, Koo revealed that NetEase limited the Marvel Zombies mode to five heroes on purpose. Since it’s Rivals’ first foray into PvE, the development team wanted to keep the scope small on purpose and focus on the player feedback.

The Zombies mode has received a lot of positive feedback so far, and the Marvel Rivals player count has skyrocketed as a result. Due to this, NetEase will release even more PvE modes in the future. Danny Koo revealed that the development team will explore making more PvE content based on players’ feedback.

“Players want to see X-Men versus the Sentinels, right? Or an Ultron takeover, where you fight Ultron bots. Itโ€™s limitless.” Koo said in the interview. “We’re going to take this opportunity to look at what we have done, and then make it bigger and better.”

Finally, the Marvel Rivals executive producer revealed that the Zombies mode will return next year if it’s a success. However, the PvE in the game will not just be limited to Marvel Zombies, so we can expect a variety of game modes in the future.

Considering the rich Marvel lore, NetEase can release lots of interesting modes, from Doctor Doom’s fight against the Fantastic Four to Thanos fighting against the Avengers. These modes could also be a unique opportunity to bring lesser-known comic book characters to the game, which is something that NetEase has already done successfully a couple of times.
