The upcoming Marvel Rivals update will be massive and bring Season 5.5. The new hero, Rogue, will come out alongside a new map, event, new cosmetics, and a lot of other content. NetEase has already revealed most of the things coming with the next Marvel Rivals season, which is why we’ve prepared the early patch notes for you.
Below, you can see all the big things coming with the release of Season 5.5, including hero balance changes.
Marvel Rivals Season 5.5 early patch notes
Rogue is a new hero
NetEase confirmed the addition of Rogue as a new hero long before the season was even announced. On Tuesday, we got a detailed look at Rogue’s abilities in Marvel Rivals, giving us a sneak peek into her attacks. The member of the X-Men will be a versatile hero who will primarily serve as a Vanguard.

Rogue will be the 12th tank in the game. Considering how fun her kit looks, we expect her to be one of the most popular heroes, not only in the first week, but well beyond that.
New map and the event are coming to Marvel Rivals
Besides Rogue, NetEase revealed that we will get a new map in Season 5.5. The map is called Jeffland and will be released on Thursday, December 18. It appears that the map will be used exclusively for Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival, an upcoming event.
This event was also available in December 2024, and it’s returning with some big changes. This time, the fan-favorite Strategist has three different builds, which will make the limited-time game mode even more fun.
The Marvel Rivals developer announced another event on the same date. All-new Mystery Burger will be available on the Times Square map at Pym’s Test Kitchen. “Eat it, and you might be surprised by the results,” NetEase teased.
New cosmetics and skins
Jeff the Land Shark will get a couple of new styles for his Cuddly Fuzzlefin costume in the upcoming event, as revealed by the game developer. On top of this, the early Marvel Rivals patch notes give us a look at the upcoming winter-themed skins. Several characters will get new skins, including Squirrel Girl and Daredevil.

While these skins will be released periodically throughout the season, NetEase will release new skins for Rogue (Savage South) and Rocket Raccoon (Rocket of the Rafters) on the first day of it.
Balance changes
Unsurprisingly, the Marvel Rivals developer will release numerous balance changes with Season 5.5. These will be mostly based on the performance of heroes from the current season, and their purpose is to make the game as balanced as possible.
Here is a quick overview of the balance changes coming on Friday:
| Buffed | Nerfed |
|---|---|
| The Thing | Peni Parker |
| Thor | Daredevil |
| Phoenix | Gambit |
| Scarlet Witch | Invisible Woman |
| The Punisher | Rocket Raccoon |
| Loki | |
| Luna Snow |
A few more heroes have also been changed, so make sure to check out all the buffs and nerfs coming with Marvel Rivals Season 5.5.
On top of this, the game developer changed several Team-Ups. Emma Frost has joined the Chilling Assault synergy, gaining a new ability with Luna Snow, but she lost her Team-Up with Psylocke, losing a 100 health bonus. Rogue has joined Gambit and Magneto in Explosive Entanglement, while Psylocke now gets a new ability while teaming up with Cloak & Dagger.
These early patch notes show highlights of the next Marvel Rivals update, and we should get more information shortly before its release.
