Konami’s shiny new Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater boldly recreates Hideo Kojima’s PS2 original with gorgeous Unreal Engine 5 visuals. While the game itself is a great remake, there are some really annoying issues.
As some fans have already clocked via Digital Foundry’s PS5 coverage of the game, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has some major performance issues on console. Unfortunately, there are also issues on PC, and one of the most infuriating ones is entirely self-imposed by the developer.

At the time of writing, the PC version of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is locked to 60 frames-per-second with no option to go above that. Multiple reviewers have noticed this issue with PCGamesN mentioning the annoying performance limit in their review.
That’s not the only issue on PC. For gamers using an ultrawide display, the game doesn’t support any ultrawide aspect ratios, and even high dynamic range support is finicky with the game requiring fullscreen display to make use of it.
Thankfully, Konami’s latest does appear to be largely free of Unreal Engine 5’s notorious stuttering issue on PC, although it may not be entirely absent.
It’s no secret that Konami is not known for stellar PC ports, and this isn’t the first Metal Gear title to suffer. 2023’s Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 was so bad that players had to wait an entire year to change the game’s internal resolution. Thankfully, that basic feature is part of Delta: Snake Eater on Day One.
In a more positive note, at least the new Snake Eater remake does run well enough to hit 60fps on a decent PC. With console framerates plummeting down to 30fps in their performance modes, maybe Konami wasn’t expecting anyone to go above 60fps. Nevertheless, if we have the power, we should have the option.
