Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a gorgeous remake of Hideo Kojima’s PS2 original with some minor issues, but the new game doesn’t reinvent, well, anything. In the new Delta remake, Konami reuses the original game’s level design, animations and even voice performances, but is that a bad thing?
In a recent interview with Inverse, Snake actor David Hayter explains that he wished he could’ve jumped back in the booth to re-record his lines for the new remake. After 20 years of performances, including others as the character, the actor believes he could’ve done better.
“I do feel that I’m a little better of an actor now than I was then,” the actor laughed. “It was fine back in the day, but I would have loved to bring some of the knowledge that I’ve picked up over the past 20 years to it.”

In another interview, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater producer Noriaki Okamura explained that Konami is working to create a new generation of developers that will make more Metal Gear Solid titles.
“We only have a few years left out of us to make a game, right?” Okamura explained. “And one of the things that we noticed, and what really kicked off this project, is that we started seeing a huge wave of new gamers that [weren’t] even aware or didn’t even [know] Metal Gear before. And [we] were like, ‘We need to do something about this because we wanted to carry on the legacy.’”
In response to this, Hayter explained he would always come back as Snake if asked, saying: “Anytime they ask me to be Snake, I’m in. It’s the definitive role in my life. It’s so complex and so profound, and there are so many different aspects to both him and Big Boss. So anytime it comes up, I’m down.”
For now, Konami has not revealed its next plans for the Metal Gear Solid series, although many are expecting another remake of an earlier game in the franchise.
