The first Overwatch Season 1 event, Conquest, launched with significant issues. While interesting, the fight between Talon and Overwatch was marked by multiple server issues. These issues prevented many players from participating and unlocking rewards, which is why Blizzard announced compensation.
The compensation package is substantial and certainly much better than many players have expected. In a statement shared by Blizzard’s Public Relations Manager, Eric, the team thanked players for their patience while developers worked to fix issues that impacted event progression. To make up for the downtime, all eligible players will receive every reward from both faction base passes, plus two prestige passes.
The compensation package includes rewards from both Talon and Overwatch factions
The Overwatch compensation rewards include 12 Base Loot Boxes, one Epic loot box, and one Legendary loot box. Players will also receive two voice lines (Sojourn and Emre), two common titles (“Overwatch” and “Talon”), an Overwatch weapon charm, and an Emre namecard.
All of these rewards will be additive, which means that players will receive them in addition to all the rewards they have already unlocked. All the eligible players, those who completed at least one Week 1 challenge, will receive the full compensation package.
Because of the sheer volume of rewards being granted, Blizzard noted that distribution may take several days, meaning some players could see items appear before others.

Beyond the rewards, Blizzard is also reducing the completion requirement for Legendary Faction Titles by one, as many players were unable to switch factions during server downtime. As a result, Strike Commander and Lupine Imperator will now require seven completed event passes instead of eight, while the Double Agent challenge will now require 14 total pass completions rather than the original 16.
These changes will go live with the Season Midcycle Patch.
In the meantime, Blizzard is also granting free Overwatch Loot Boxes with Twitch Drops, which are another reason why the player count has skyrocketed since the release of Season 1.
