PocketPair, the studio behind Palworld, would really like to bring its open-world monster-catching survival game Palworld to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Still working on additional support for the game, alongside a new, in-development Animal Crossing-esque spin-off, PocketPair has brought Palworld to every console platform other than Nintendo.
While the original Nintendo Switch was a little too weak for the game, Pocketpair CEO Takuru Mizobe explained in a discussion with VGC that a Switch 2 port makes sense. “Of course,” the developer responded when asked if they want to bring the game to the new handheld.
“First of all, I should say that we think the Switch 2 is a really amazing platform, not just for games globally, but especially here in Japan and for the Japanese games industry. It’s been an incredible platform,” he continued.
Mizobe then stressed that there needs to be the “opportunity” to bring the game to Nintendo Switch 2, which likely means sorting out the studio’s ongoing lawsuit with Nintendo. While not mentioning the lawsuit, Pocketpair personally ported Palworld to Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series, and PS5, so there’s certainly no lack of internal opportunity.
“If there’s ever a future where we have the opportunity to discuss or consider bringing Palworld to the Switch platform in some way, then we’d love to have those conversations,” Mizobe told the outlet.
PocketPair and Nintendo’s ongoing legal case over Pokemon-like game mechanics is still active, and it’s not known what will happen if PocketPair loses. However, for now, Palworld remains one of the most popular games on Steam and other consoles, and it would be a great fit on Nintendo Switch 2.
For now, PocketPair is preparing to release Palworld Version 1.1, a sizeable but not “massive” update that will continue to expand the open-world survival game. The update is currently scheduled to launch sometime in Winter 2026.
