ConcernedApe’s brilliant farming game Stardew Valley is now included as a free bonus for Discord Nitro subscribers following a partnership with Xbox Game Pass.
Via the new partnership, Stardew Valley is one of a small selection of games included with the new ‘starter edition’ of Xbox’s subscription service. Included with Discord Nitro subscriptions, Stardew Valley is headlining the new partnership.
From this point on, Discord Nitro subscribers will be able to download games from “a library of 50+ PC and console games”. Additionally, subscribers will have access to just 10 hours of Xbox Cloud Gaming per month.
Alongside ConcernedApe’s juggernaut casual game, Xbox confirms that Fallout 4, Overcooked 2, Grounded, Day Z, and Deep Rock Galactic are all included. It’s worth noting that, even as a Starter Edition, titles in Xbox Game Pass change often, and it’s not known how long these games will be included in the subscription service.
The partnership comes as new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has pushed to make Xbox Game Pass “a more flexible system”. The CEO has already reduced the price of the subscription’s “Ultimate” variant, shifting from $30 a month to $22.99 after calling the membership “too expensive for players”.
“We’ve been focused on meeting players where they already are and making gaming more social along the way,” Xbox said in a recent blog post. This seemingly means that Xbox will not only attempt to entice gamers into its ecosystem, but also find new ways to approach gamers, starting with Discord users.
Of course, the most important part of any gaming subscription service is the games, and this new partnership does give Discord Nitro players access to some of the most popular games of all time. While Stardew Valley has sold millions upon millions of copies since launch, there are always new players looking to jump into the farming game, and that goes for Fallout 4 as well.
If you’re one of the few gamers (or even non-gamers) to not give Stardew Valley a try yet, maybe this is a great way of giving it a shot. Although, seeing as Discord Nitro costs around $10 a month, and Stardew often goes on sale for less than that, maybe it’s worth just buying the game?
