VR modder NoMoreFlat has been made their VR conversion mods for Starfield, Stalker 2 and other games freely available after spending its life locked behind a Patreon paywall.
Following multiple DMCAs against VR modder Luke Ross, who developed his own REAL VR software to convert titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 into virtual reality, other VR modders are making their own conversions free to use.
With Rossโ Patreon now in a suspended state following a new DMCA from Ghostrunner publisher 505 Games, modder NoMoreFlat has made every one of their VR mods free. Alongside Starfield, the modder has also made VR conversions for Stalker2, Alan Wake 2, and a number of Assassinโs Creed games.
โAs many of you have seen, the modding communityโand specifically Luke Rossโhas recently been hit with significant DMCA challenges from publishers,โ the modder said on their Patreon. โSeeing the immense effort it takes to build these VR experiences only to face legal harassment is disheartening, especially since these mods often drive sales by giving players a reason to buy the original games.โ
โWhile modding is my hobby rather than my full-time job, I am not ready to deal with that kind of pressure from publishers,โ they continued. โUp until now, I havenโt had issues, but Iโm not sure if thatโs due to my smaller profile or specific publisher policies. To ensure the safety of my work and this community, I have decided to make all my mods public (I need some time to clean up before releasing).โ
The modder explained that they will not be stopping development of their VR mods as they are actively working on VR conversions for A Plague Tale: Innocence and A Plague Tale: Requiem. However, they would also accept any donations that will allow them to spend more time working on VR mods for flatscreen games.
