Owlcat Games’ Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader has been massively expanded with free updates and paid expansions, but the brilliant CRPG’s final DLC is now just months away.
Announced today, Rogue Trader’s next expansion, Processional of the Damned, will release this December and will mark the final DLC for the isometric RPG. Just like the prior expansions, this will be a major addition to the game with a new companion, storyline, environments, enemies, and more.
Just like every expansion before it, Processional of the Damned will be completely integrated into the main campaign. During a normal playthrough, you’ll now encounter the frail-looking miraculist Stella and recruit her into your party.
“Although she is an unsanctioned psyker, her order treats her like a miracle created by the God Emperor Himself. As the conduit of His will, she manifests her unstable powers shedding tears of blood and showing cracks in her porcelain skin,” a press release sent to FRVR reads.
“In battle she emanates a devastating wave of psychic flares, dealing area of effect damage to those surrounding her. Although she can learn to control her powers to some degree, veil degradation and the power of the warp mean that she will never truly be free from peril and madness.”
Processional of the Dammed will allow players to choose Stella’s path forward, twisting her into a living weapon, or taking a lighter path. As always, choice is at the heart of the story with multiple paths to the end, one of which could end in destruction.
The DLC also adds a brand-new mechanic to the game for all characters: madness. This feature will see friendly and enemy characters infected with madness that may cause them to hurt themselves or others, changing the dynamics of battles. One of the biggest complaints regarding Rogue Trader has been the game’s fairly easy combat, but this seeks to add a new layer of complication and tactility to skirmishes.
As you explore the new storyline and environments, you’ll also be introduced to brand-new enemy types. Owlcat notes that you’ll encounter “new enemies from the ranks of the Arch Enemy and the Aeladari” as well as the powerful new Zealot class, which will bludgeon players to death.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader – Procession of the Dammed will release simultaneously on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the game’s latest port to Nintendo Switch 2.
