Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Forever may be returning to the feeling of Classic WoW, but the extremely popular MMORPG will evolve with new content in the future. While the studio is keen to note that it will not transform into the game’s Retail state, the game will be expanded with never-before-seen content as well as new classes.
In a new player survey leaked online, Blizzard has asked players about numerous aspects of the in-beta MMO. Additionally, the survey includes references to new classes that could be added to World of Warcraft: Forever depending on player feedback.
In the survey, Blizzard included classes from other versions of WoW, such as the Demon Hunter, with new abilities, as well as never-before classes such as the Necromancer. Each class has its own description, playstyle, weapon types, and more. While these classes may not be in development, it does seem that Blizzard has put a significant amount of effort in sketching out potential newcomers to the game.
The classes are as follows:
- Monk – Tank, Healer, Melee DPS
- Demon Hunter – Tank, Melee DPS
- Tinker – Tank, Ranged DPS, Support
- Illusionist – Ranged DPS
- San’layn – Tank, Ranged DPS, Melee Damage
- Necromancer – Ranged DPS
- Rune Knight – Tank, Healer, Melee
- Bard – Support, Healer
- Warden – Tank, Melee DPS
- Witch – Ranged DPS, Support
- Death Knight – Tank, Melee DPS
Alongside the list of new classes, it seems that Blizzard is also thinking about the closeness of the game to existing lore. World of Warcraft: Forever is split alternate universe that exists outside of the retail build’s continuity, allowing Blizzard to create brand-new storylines and never-before-seen races.
Nevertheless, Blizzard seems keen to stay aligned with the game’s existing lore if players want. In the survey, players are asked if they want classes “entirely new to Warcraft”, classes that “already exist in Warcraft lore, but is new to World of Warcraft”, or classes “from Modern/Retail” WoW.
Right now, World of Warcraft: Forever has been met with extreme popularity, but future changes will likely be controversial in some form. Expanding upon a 22-year-old game will always be met with some ire, but it seems that Blizzard is seriously considering the exact wants of the community as it tries to bring something new to Classic WoW.
World of Warcraft: Forever is currently in beta, but the new MMORPG will release in full on November 4, 2026.
