Spider-Man and Avengers superstar Tom Holland has recently expressed his adoration of video games, including The Last of Us: Part 2 and Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. However, the blockbuster actor can’t quite figure out Fortnite.
Fortnite, Epic Games’ intensely popular free-to-play battle royale game, has included numerous crossovers with Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man over the years. Unfortunately, Holland hasn’t been able to play as his character much within the game.
While the actor loves video games, he admits that he currently doesn’t “play video games all that much”. Speaking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the webhead explained that he finds Fortnite to be a bit too confusing and fast-paced for his taste in games.
“I am so bad at Fortnite that I cannot play it,” the actor told podcast host Josh Horowitz. “I don’t think I’ve ever got a kill in Fortnite.”
Holland also explained that he can not play the game on Build Mode, the original battle royale game mode for the game, as other players are just too good at building compared to him.
“When you play those people who start building stuff? I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to do that,” Holland laughed. It’s unknown if Holland is aware of the game’s Zero Build mode, which strips out building altogether, but it seems that Fortnite simply isn’t for him.
Nevertheless, it’s clear that Holland has tried to play Fortnite multiple times in the past, likely to try out his own appearances as Spider-Man and his rather unfortunate-looking Uncharted Nathan Drake skin. Hell, you might’ve been fought him and, by the sounds of it, won.
Outside of Fortnite, Holland is currently enjoying the spotlight as a main player in two of the biggest films of the year: The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Additionally, the actor is seemingly set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday later this year, although his character could be kept until the sequel Secret Wars in 2027.
