The iconic Stalker: Call of Prypiat mod, Stalker Anomaly, is now available to fans as a simple one-click install release backed by official Stalker developers GSC Game World.
Released on GOG, the iconic mod requires players to own Call of Prypiat or its Enhanced Edition to play, but can now be installed via a simple launcher and kept in your digital library forever. As part of GOG’s new mod initiative, this release aims to give fans a simple and easy way to play one of the best mods ever released.
Stalker Anomaly is a brilliant standalone mod built on the X-Ray engine that gives players a huge interconnected map that stitches parts of Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat into one sprawling world.
Anomaly is a brilliant mod that makes Stalker feel even more realistic and open, and has some features that are yet to be added to Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. With options for story mode, sandbox mode or even warfare mode, players can customise their play style for the game that they want to experience. You can grab the mod right here.
Speaking on social media, GSC Game World—the official developers of the Stalker franchise—backed the release of Anomaly on GOG.
“The legendary Stalker Anomaly modification has officially arrived on GOG — the result of collaboration between the mod’s authors, GOG, and GSC Game World,” the studio said. “Install and play with a single click — the perfect chance to dive into the mod known by all stalkers in the Zone.”
“Congratulations to the Anomaly Team on the release!” they concluded.
Of course, Stalker Anomaly is still available for those who do not want to use the GOG version, especially as that requires a GOG version of the base game to play. For those who currently own the game on Steam or in a different format, the mod can still be grabbed from its ModDB page.
GSC Game World has been very supportive of the Stalker modding community, even going as far as to make sure that modding parity will be part of the upcoming PS5 port later this year. As one of the best mods ever made for the franchise, it’s nice to see Anomaly officially backed by the developers after so many years.
