ConcernedApe’s Stardew Valley has a fantastic fan base. Alongside the brilliant mods and adorable artwork, fans of the cosy farming game are constantly helping each other get through the game via online forums and the game’s dedicated wiki.
Over the years, the Stardew Valley Wiki has been a major tool for fans with the website detailing every item, character and mechanics in the game with expert tips and tricks. When the game’s 1.7 update launches, you can bet people will be using the wiki to navigate everything the new patch brings.
Unfortunately, over the past few days, the beautiful fan website has been attacked by online trolls. Players scrolling through the website have found multiple pages vandalised by trolls spouting hate speech and foul language across a multitude of pages.
Multiple users found multiple pages with unsavoury content including references to Nazi Germany and other cases of blatant racism.
“The wiki was vandalised,” one player explained on the Stardew Valley subreddit. “A user has been editing pages and adding in a lot of racist content.”
Over the past day, admins and fans of the Stardew Valley community have worked hard to combat the hate speech posted on the site. As a community wiki, anyone can edit a page, and some use the opportunity to spread hateful content across peaceful communities.
“Why would anyone do that… it’s just my wholesome peaceful game,” one player asked. “Can you imagine the type of unhappy underachiever loser that would take time to do that?” asked another.
The Stardew Valley Wiki has been hit numerous times over the years, but it’s not the only group harmed as of late. Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky, a popular multiplayer space game, has been attacked numerous times recently with troll accounts posting hate speech, NSFW images and more.
