Following months of crushing technical issues, developer Creative Assembly has apologised to fans as yet another delay hits its colossal RTS game Total War Warhammer 3.

Tides of Torment, a new paid DLC for the RTS game, was announced at the start of 2025. The DLC, will introduce new legendary lords units for Slaanesh, Norsca, and the High Elves in a sizable new expansion, but fans will have to wait even longer to get their hands on the DLC.

Speaking to fans in a recent blog post, head of community Adam Freeman confirmed that the expansion has been delayed again as Creative Assembly focuses on fixing major gameplay issues currently plaguing all players.

“It will be our second delay to the release of this DLC and will arrive a year after the launch of our last one,” Freeman told fans. “We know this is frustrating for you; it is for all of us too. In short, it’s been a frustrating year, but we absolutely do not want to repeat past mistakes.”

Total War Warhammer 3 has fallen into a state of disrepair as of late with major gameplay issues affecting numerous factions in the game. Freeman explains that while the team also wants “to get new content out for you, we know we must prioritise any urgent fixes to get the game in a better place for you all”.

Freeman apologised on behalf of the development team for allowing the game to get to this state as CA didn’t act fast enough to stop the severe gameplay bugs and glitches from ruining players’ experiences.

“We’re sorry that the game entered this state. We recognized the issue, but we didn’t appropriately prioritize it and on initial assessment had planned to include the fix as part of update 7.0.”he explained, adding that there are internal measures being introduced that should stop “showstopper, severity-A” glitches from joining the game.

Can you believe it? The mod manager is actually real.

Tides of Torment is now scheduled to launch later this year on December 4, 2025 which will also come alongside the new 7.0 game update and the long-awaited Total War mod manager. Creative Assembly will show off all of these additions in a new gameplay showcase on November 6, 2025.

Additionally, Creative Assembly is preparing to “unveil the future of Total War” on the same day as Tides of Torment’s release. Freeman explains that the new 25th anniversary showcase will reveal “new historical and fantasy titles” as well as feature the Total War Warhammer Championship for players who are actually good at the game. (Couldn’t be me, that’s for sure.)
