Following the VR original last year, developer Survios’ Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved is bringing an enhanced version of a great Xenomorph-filled horror adventure to traditional “flatscreen” platforms. 

Launching on September 30, 2025, the game’s new Evolved Edition boasts brand-new visual improvements and gameplay changes that aim to make the game more balanced, but also significantly scarier. 

Following the arrival of the game’s new launch trailer, Rogue Incursion has been heavily reworked to play properly on PC and console without the use of a VR headset and motion controls while still keeping the intense 3D audio setup of the original. 

The improved visuals include gorgeous use of ray-traced lighting as well as a completely reworked AI system that is designed to make the iconic Xenomorphs smarter and more deadly as you scavenge for supplies across the wreckage of the secret Weyland-Yutani blacksite on the remote planet Purdan.

While the original VR version of  Alien: Rogue Incursion was criticised for its bugs and performance issues on launch, developer Survios has done well to patch the game over the past year. Even in the game’s VR incarnation, Xenomorph AI was massively improved in patches, but Survios claims that the new PC and console game will make the creatures even more deadly. 

Nevertheless, there is a sense that something may be lost in the transition from VR to flatscreen. Rogue Incursion’s VR setup was truly amazing with the heavy recoil of the iconic pulse rifle causing you to have to choose whether to one-arm the motion tracker or set it down on a table to really preserve your ammunition. 

As someone who adored the VR game, I’m excited to see just how much has changed for the game’s Evolved Edition. Additionally, this is just Part One of a two-part story, meaning there’s even more Xenomorph action to come in the future. 

Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition costs just $29.99 on launch, but there’s a more expensive “Deluxe Edition” for those who want some additional digital goodies. (Every version of the game comes with some sexy Romulus-themed skins for the Pulse Rifle, so you don’t need to worry about that.)
