Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 has been nothing short of a phenomenon. The game has reignited the industry’s passion for CRPGs, it’s inspired veteran developers such as BioShock creator Ken Levine, and it’s seen tens of thousands of players jumping into the Sword Coast constantly since its launch.

While Baldur’s Gate 3 is an incredible game everywhere, the game has also proven to be a major hit for players on Steam Deck. Despite performance on the handheld being less than desirable early on, although much better now, Baldur’s Gate 3 has consistently populated the handheld’s top-five most-played games since launch.

As noted by PC Gamer, in the 33 months since Baldur’s Gate 3 launched in its finished form, it has spent 29 months in the top-five most-played Steam Deck games list. Furthermore, the game has never failed to populate the most-played list with the CRPG always remaining in the handheld’s top-ten most-played games.

After launch, Baldur’s Gate 3 spent six consecutive months as the number one most-played game on the handheld. The game dropped out of the handheld’s top five when Balatro released, and is currently resting in the number six spot, beating Forza Horizon 6, just about beaten by Vampire Crawlers which, let’s face it, is the perfect type of game for the Deck.

While Baldur’s Gate 3’s Steam Deck reign is certainly impressive, the game has continued to stay popular outside of the handled. Via our own research, BG3 has also consistently stayed within the Top 50 most-played games on Steam every month since launch with a major spike in December 2025 after the announcement of Divinity. (As it turns out, that announcement also massively boosted sales for the game as well!)

Additionally, the game has also stayed in the top 100 most-played games on PlayStation 5 since its August 2023 release. The game is currently at its lowest position ever on PlayStation Network tracking services, coming in at number 59, the first time the game has ever dropped out of the platform’s Top 50 most-played games.

Unfortunately, for Xbox, public tracking data is far more obscure, but it’s been a while since Baldur’s Gate 3 has appeared on the platform’s most-played lists. While the game was very popular on launch for the platform, it seems the game’s Xbox popularity has waned in the face of free titles and Game Pass releases.

As it stands, Baldur’s Gate 3’s popularity is still rampant with the type of longevity only really reserved for Bethesda games these days. As fans continue working on massive custom campaign mods, such as the upcoming Path to Menzoberranzan, the game’s popularity on PC will likely stay high, just like Skyrim and Fallout 4. Baldur’s Gate 3 is likely a forever game.
