CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 has, once again, climbed the Steam best-sellers list. A combination of the Steam Summer Sale and the recent trailer for Edgerunners 2 has pushed the near six-year-old RPG back up the list of top selling games on the platform.
Currently available on Steam for 70% off until July 9, 2026, CD Projekt Red’s RPG is selling gangbusters again. At the time of writing, the RPG is currently the fifth best-selling game on the platform by revenue, coming just behind the just-released $1000+ Steam Machine.
Additionally, Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion is also climbing the best-sellers list on its lonesome. This means that long-time players of CDPR’s epic sci-fi RPG are finally grabbing the brilliant expansion through this new Steam sale.
It’s worth noting that Cyberpunk 2077 always does well in Steam sales, but the combination of the Steam sale and news of the game’s second anime spin-off, Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2, has culminated in some huge sales. Of course, those sales are still continuing as we speak. Furthermore, this month, player counts have increased as well with a peak of 87,025 concurrent players on June 28th.

Cyberpunk 2077, despite its unfortunate launch, has proven itself as a single-player forever game. There is a constant playerbase for the game, and an eager fanbase looking for more, although it will be a long time until the next game in the series actually releases.
While Cyberpunk 2077 continues to sell like hotcakes even half-a-decade after release, CD Projekt Red continues to work on Cyberpunk 2 behind the scenes. Not expected to launch for years yet, the upcoming RPG has around 150 developers working on it at the time of writing. Additionally, the game is expected to keep its first-person only cutscenes.
As for Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2, the new anime series will launch exclusively on Netflix in Fall 2026. The new series promises “a new story, fresh characters, and an even more raw, brutal take on the world of the dark future” An official teaser has just been released for the anime series.
