Two of the biggest Nintendo Switch 2 reveal games, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and The Duskbloods, are definitely releasing this year, reveals FromSoftware owner Kadokawa Group.
Originally set to release last year, the new Nintendo Switch 2 port of Elden Ring was delayed last year following pre-release complaints surrounding its performance. While the game has been seen since then, with much-improved performance, the port still hasn’t released on the platform.
Additionally, The Duskbloods, which is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive PvPvE game, has only been seen once. The vampire-themed soulslike game was revealed alongside Nintendo’s latest handheld, but has been radio silent ever since. Nevertheless, Kadokawa Group is adamant that both will release this year.
In the company’s latest financial report, the FromSoftware owner confirmed that btoh games are still planned for release during 2026. In fact, the launches of both soulslike games are tentpole products for the company with Kadokawa banking on their successful releases.
Elden Ring’s delayed release on Nintendo Switch 2 has also seemingly affected other platforms. While FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have yet to fully confirm that this is the case, the new Tarnished Edition content is expected to launch on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation as well, but the indefinite delay means all players are still waiting.
As for The Duskbloods, the game marks a large departure from FromSoftware’s usual releases. As a multiplayer-first title, players will be tasked with jumping into matches to take out enemy players and earn Victory Points. Matches conclude when only one player remains, essentially a battle royale format.
While the original Switch did see a few Soulsike games, including Dark Souls Remaster, FromSoftware largely skipped the platform. For Nintendo Switch 2, the studio is seemingly planning on long-term support for the handheld, although there are a few modern titles that have yet to be announced for the device.
Alongside Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and The Duskbloods, it would be great to see other FromSoftware titles appear. Elden Ring: Nightreign, the studio’s multiplayer roguelike game, would be a great fit for the handheld, and ports of the studio’s other mainline Souls games would be fantastic to see.
