As Arrowhead Game Studios has continued to release Warbond after Warbond for Helldivers 2, players have become increasingly annoyed by the glacial pace of earning Super Credits within the multiplayer co-op game.

While the fact that players can the game’s premium currency has been commended by players since launch, the addition of almost dozens of Warbonds has meant that many players have fallen behind as Super Credit farming becomes more and more tedious.

As we explained in an article last week, fans have called for Super Credits to be easier to earn, or for Warbonds to decrease in price over time. Right now, as Arrowhead continues to work on “meaningful progression”, the unlocking of Warbonds is the game’s progression system, and earning its unlocks is becoming increasingly un-fun.

One of the biggest calls by fans since launch has been to make Super Credits easier to earn on higher difficulties. In the current game, the most efficient way to earn the premium currency is to run through low-level missions over and over again, which Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt admits is not the right call.

In an AMA to fans Pilestedt admitted that Super Credits should be easier to earn on higher difficultiues compared to the current system. However, the director also explained that any change to Super Credits farms will be met by backlash.

“I think the SC [Super Credits]earn should skew a bit more to the higher difficulties to make the game more engaging,” the game’s creative director said. “Farming at low levels isn’t exciting.”

On the other hand, Pilestedt explained that the team does not want to experience more backlash right now. During 2025, Helldivers 2 was met with constant backlash for its major technical issues, including its horrendously large filesize which was graciously fixed, and the situation affected team morale over time.

“We are very cautious of rebalancing this as it inevitably will cause backlash,” Pilestedt told fans. “And we want more positivity and less negativity”.

Despite this, it can’t be understated that Helldivers 2 has felt largely stagnant as of late without any major progression overhauls and the annoyance of farming its premium currency. While the core gameplay is still fun, players who reached the final ship upgrades back during launch have seen no additional progression since then outside of new Warbonds.

The next Helldivers 2 Warbond, Exo Experts, launches later this month and comes with two new mechs, which has already proven controversial for players. Right now, it’s clear that the game is still beloved, but it’s update structure leaves a lot to be desired two years after launch.
