Despite a litany of issues last year, Helldivers 2 is back with a bang with a new roadmap of content bringing frequent new additions to the game over the next few months.

Unfortunately, this roadmap has come after many months of large-scale patches for Arrowhead Game Studios’ popular multiplayer game. Following the release of the game’s first into the Unjust campaign last year, Helldivers 2 was struggling with massive technical issues, a now-fixed bloated install size, and more.

Now that the dust has settled, Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani explains that the studio has learned that it must be “more transparent” with fans regarding when improvements are coming and what they add to the multiplayer game.

While Arrowhead is quite vocal with fans, even teasing future gameplay ideas like a large-scale progression overhaul in active conversation with players, the studio has been shy regarding the release of specific improvements. With the game’s roadmap, players now know when content is coming and when major fixes are releasing, and Arrowhead wants to continue its transparency with fans.

“[The roadmap] was well received,” Jorjani told fans in a discussion on Discord, adding that they “hope” the studio will release another roadmap in the future. “I think we could be more transparent with our QoL and tech roadmap,” the CEO continued. “It also depends on our ability to hit our marks. So the better we are there the more we will share.”

Jorjani also explained that the introduction of more transparency surrounding Helldivers 2 updates will mean that team won’t have to release teasers as fans will be more informed on major fixes. “Ideally we won’t need to [release update teasers] if we can achieve the true intent: new content+ improvement with each update.”

Helldivers 2’s current roadmap runs until June’s Update 6.3, which will introduce a new biome, new Galactic War campaigns, a new Warbond, and quality-of-life fixes. Afterwards, if all goes well, players should expect a second roadmap that will detail the game’s next four months of content drops as the war for galactic democracy continues.

There are still a lot of fan requests for the future of Helldivers 2, although it seems that some will have to wait for an eventual third game in the series, whenever that happens. With Arrowhead hoping to bring sequel-level features to the game in larger updates down the line, there’s still a lot of life in the multiplayer game right now.
