Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 is getting festive the only way it knows how: pure unadulterated action! Following the recent Major Order to Liberate the Magma Planets, Helldivers 2 has now unleashed the ceremonial Festival of Reckoning!

Allowing our most democratic players to “create a little sparkle this season”, the new event unleashes powerful experimental weapons that will bring cheers to Super Earth and tears to Super Earth’s enemies. Just the way Santa likes it.

Running from December 18th to December 31st, 2025, the new Helldivers 2 Festival of Reckoning adds a number of powerful, experimental strategems to the game as “limited-time treats from Super Earth”.

These explosive treats include a powerful 120MM EMS Projectile with stun, allowing you to barrage enemies with stun attacks from afar. There’s the Gatling Barrage Fire Projectiles that rain a gatling strategem with fire effects onto very cold enemies during the winter season. That should warm ’em up!

Finally, there’s the walking barrage with smoke, allowing you to not only decimate foes, but do so under the cover of a festive blanket of snow, I mean, smoke. It’s a beautiful display of democracy!

For the time being, there’s no word on whether or not these additions will be made full, permanent strategems in a future update. However, in their very fun, likely unbalanced state, these are the perfect gifts for a Super Earth soldier this Christmas.

“The 3-day Festival of Reckoning makes use of the specially-allocated Reckoning Fund, set aside each year to finance an exhilarating expenditure of ordnance against the enemies of Democracy. Families gather to witness the Helldivers avenge all the loved ones lost this year,” the update’s description reads.

“As families and communities watch the death toll rise, they also can take advantage of deep discounts on consumer goods. The higher the death toll, the greater the savings.”
