Warhammer 40,000 is coming to Helldivers 2 later this year in a brand-new Legendary Warbond

Arrowhead has announced a crossover between Helldivers 2 and Warhammer 40,000.

Following the announcement of some major performance improvements earlier today, Arrowhead announced a surprise Legendary Warbond for Helldivers 2.

The new Warhammer crossover marks the third Legendary Warbond for the game, following Halo 3: ODST and Killzone. Compared to the standard Warbond cost of 1,000 Super Credits, Legendary Warbonds typically cost 1,700, and don’t come with additional unlockable Super Credits.

At the time of writing, Arrowhead has not confirmed the contents of the Warbond. However, prior Legendary Warbonds have included themed weapons and armour. While we can’t know for sure what will be included, Cadian Armour sets for light armour players seem ideal, as well as the iconic Bolter pistol.

Furthermore, Legendary Warbonds typically include a new cosmetic cape as well as other cosmetics. Unfortunately, the weapons included in these crossovers typically can’t be upgraded in any way unlike normal weapons.

“At Arrowhead, we believe that these two worlds fit perfectly together,” game director Mikael Eriksson said. “And as a studio full of die-hard Warhammer fans, we are beyond thrilled to see this Legendary Warbond come to life”.

Eriksson explained that they will reveal more about the upcoming crossover “later this year” with no release window for fans to look forward to. While this is the third Legendary Warbond for Helldivers 2, it is the first one to be revealed without an actual release date.

Fans of Helldivers 2 have been asking for a Warhammer 40,000 crossover since launch. The iconic tabletop franchise was one of the most requested crossovers alongside Halo 3: ODST, the latter of which launched alongside the game’s Xbox console port.

Alongside the new Warhammer crossover, Arrowhead is working on additional improvements for Helldivers 2. The studio has confirmed that the first of its progression improvements will be revealed this Summer as the team also works on additional engine improvements.

Helldivers 2 is currently available on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5.
