Konami’s Silent Hill series is well and truly back. Since 2023’s Silent Hill Ascension, the iconic horror series has been an annual affair with Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill F, and this year’s upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall.
Silent Hill is more successful than ever as well with both Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill F breaking series sales records. As Konami continues to support the horror series with Bloober Team’s upcoming original Silent Hill Remake, the gaming company is striving to have one new game in the series every year.
At a media roundtable interview attended by GameSpot, Konami producer Motoi Okamoto explained that Konami’s is still serious about returning as a gaming giant, and Silent Hill is an integral part of its strategy, alongside Metal Gear.
“The main reason why we decided to have multiple titles in the works–like three games in the works at the same time–was because we wanted to convey to the players that Konami is serious about coming back into the gaming landscape,” Okamoto told press.
As Konami returns in full force, Okamoto explained that the intention is to keep Silent Hill as an annual franchise. With the rate of game releases in the current market, this could mean that existing studios that have worked on the series—such as Silent Hill F’s NeoBards Entertainment—could be kept working on the series to reduce time between entries.
“A part of the strategy behind that was to work on multiple games at once so that we can have an annual release of a new Silent Hill game ever year,” Okamoto explained. “That way, players will know that it’s not a facade. We’re serious about coming back into the gaming space and providing players with new games.”
At the time of writing, Konami has only confirmed the next two games in the Silent Hill series: Townfall, which releases in September, and a remake of the original game, which doesn’t currently have a release date.
With this in mind, Bloober Team’s Silent Hill Remake is more than likely the series’ 2027 release with another title taking the series’ spot for 2028. Okamoto hinted that numerous games in the series are in development at the time of writing, however, nothing new has been confirmed at the time of publication.
