Silent Hill F is an instant success. Following the great reception and sales of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the new horror game is on its way to outperform Bloober Team’s incredible remake of Silent Hill 2.
In a statement from Konami, the company revealed that Silent Hill F has already sold a million units across PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series. Konami explains that the new game is performing so well that its outpacing its predecessor.
“The remake of ‘SILENT HILL 2,’ released last year, surpassed one million units shipped worldwide within a week of its release, but ‘SILENT HILL f’ is growing in shipments at an even faster pace in each region, including Japan,” Konami explained.
When it released in 2024, Silent Hill 2 Remake quickly became the best-selling game in the franchise’s history, and pushed the series past the 10 million copies sold benchmark. According to Konami, the game managed to sell around 1.5 million copies on its own without an Xbox presence.
Alongside high sales, the new game has also reviewed exceptionally well, and has a social media presence unlike any other game in the series with ample fan art, memes and more. As the first game in the series to be set in Japan, the title has drawn some ire from fans, but most are supportive of the new direction taken for the game.
In our review, we were very into the new horror game, although not as much as some. In our four star review of the game, we explained that the game can sometimes feel unbalanced in its focus on combat, but tells such a great story that it more than makes up for its missteps. (Honestly, when has the series ever mastered combat?)
“There are some annoying issues along the way, mostly involving wide combat in narrow corridors, but Silent Hill F is the first new game to truly feel like Silent Hill in, well, over a decade,” reads our review. “While Homecoming, Origins and Downpour were decent enough, this has enough budget, care and character to sit alongside the greats… just slightly further down the bench. It’s easily the fourth-best Silent Hill, and it earns its place.”
There are reportedly a number of new games in the series in development across numerous studios. At the time of writing, Bloober Team is working on a full remake of the original Silent Hill, which is looking to be a heavily reworked version of the PS1 horror classic.
