Marvel Rivals Season 5 is now here, focusing on a romance-themed season between the two X-Men lovebirds Gambit and Rogue. With Gambit’s abilities confirmed and Rogue’s appearance set for the mid-season update, there are now 44 playable heroes within NetEase’s free-to-play hero shooter.
However, with a constantly expanding player roster, the expected Marvel Rivals Season 5 buffs and nerfs have come in with a lot of changes. Significant changes have been made to 20 heroes across the game with the majority of changes affecting the Duellist class of characters.
To help ease the pain of learning all Marvel Rivals Season 5 buffs and nerfs, we’ve simply laid out every major hero adjustment in the season below in clearly defined lists. To find the character you want, simply head to the section of the character class you’re interested in, look for your hero and see their changes.

Vanguards
Marvel Rivals Vanguards are the tanks of NetEase’s multiplayer hero shooter, and they are the second-biggest target of Season 5 buffs and nerfs. While there are less changes that Duelists received, there are seven heroes with major changes in this new season.
Fantastic Four’s The Thing is, by far, the most changed hero with four major alterations to his abilities. Angela and Magneto have also seen major alterations, so check them all out in the table below.
| Hero | Changes |
|---|---|
| The Thing | Embattled Leap damage reduction from a single target has been removed. Instead, the ability now grants a 20% damage reduction to all allies within 5 metres of landing. Embattled Leap damage reduction to self has been reduced from 25% to 20%. Battle Blitz damage reduction to self has been removed. Instead, the move now applies 20% vulnerability to all enemies within 5 metres of landing. Stone Haymaker damage has been reduced from 90 to 55 as well as 50 bonus health during activation. Instead, the attack now does damage equal to 8% of target’s max health per hit and grants bonus health equal to damage with a maximum of 100. |
| Magneto | Metal Bulwark and Iron Bulwark cooldowns and now separate. Metal Bulwark and Iron Bulwark shield value has been reduced from 250 to 200. |
| Angela | Assassin’s Charge movement speed increased from 16 metres-per-second to 18 metres-per-second. Heaven’s Retribution spear health has been increased from 600 to 800. |
| Peni Parker | Peni Parker’s Cyber Web has been changed. Now, heroes in the web receive the same bonuses as Peni herself: healing 15 health-per-second, 25% movement boost and excess healing up to 25 bonus health. |
| Captain America | Freedom Charge has a new effect which gives allies within its path a 30% boost to Ultimate Energy charge efficiency. |
| Groot | Ironwood Wall has a new effect which allows Groot to gain Unstoppable status when within 15 metres of Awakened Ironwood Walls. |
| Hulk | Gamma Burst has a new effect where each direct hit reduces the cooldown of Indestructible Guard by 1 second. |
Strategists
While Marvel Rivals Season 5 buffs and nerfs have hit this class the least, there are some major changes to heroes within this class. Just like the other two classes, the Fantastic Four has been hit the hardest here with Invisible Woman seeing some major changes compared to her peers.
| Hero | Changes |
|---|---|
| Invisible Woman | Orb Projection damage-on-hit has been increased from 25 to 30, projectile range increased from 30 metres to 35 metres, projectile speed also increased from 120 metres-per-second to 150 metres-per-second. Force Physics length has been increased from 30 metres to 35 metres. Guardian Shield has a new effect: if no Guardian Shield is present, recalling the effect shields Invisible Woman. |
| Rocket Raccoon | B.R.B cooldown has been reduced from 45 seconds to just 40. Repair Mode maximum count has been increased from 5 to 7. Projectile Speed has also been increased from 60 metres-per-second to 80. Bombard Mode projectile speed increased from 150 metres-per-second to 180. |
| Adam Warlock | Soul Flight speed increased from 6 metres-per-second to 12. Karmic Revival energy cost has been reduced from 4700 to 4500 and ally detection radius has been buffed from a 30 metre radius to 35. |
| Loki | Base health has been increased from 250 to 275. Mystical Missile’s damage falloff at 3 metres increased from 50% to 80%. However, the move now heals directly hit allies for an extra 10 health. |
| Cloak and Dagger | Base health increased from 250 to 275. |
There you have it: that’s every buff and nerf in Marvel Rivals Season 5. While the game’s mid-season update in a month-or-so will introduce even more changes that help to balance the game (can Mantis get some love, please?) these are all of the major updates for now.
