Embark Studios’ huge Arc Raiders Riven Tides update is out now, bringing major changes to the extraction shooter. Alongside the addition of a new map, enemy, and more, the massive update has also broken the game’s cross-play feature.
Cross-play in Arc Raiders allows players to play alongside gamers from other platforms. In fact, playing without cross-play enabled in low-population regions has resulted in some extremely unfair matches.
Unfortunately, players who are currently playing with cross-play enabled in the extraction shooter actually aren’t playing with the feature. In a statement on the game’s Discord server, Embark has confirmed that the game’s cross-play function is actually still turned off even if players turn it on in their settings.
“We’re currently investigating an issue with Crossplay following today’s update,” the team explained on the game’s official Discord server. “We’ll report back when the issue has been resolved. Thank you so much for the fast feedback and reports!”
While the feature is still broken at the time of publication, there is a workaround to properly activate it right now. While labelled as a “temporary fix”, players are able to activate cross-play by “fully restoring your settings to default”. Of course, this also means that any settings changes you’ve made in the game will be reverted to their default options which is not ideal.
Embark has confirmed that it is currently “working away on a better solution”, although it’s not known when a proper fix will be released by the studio. For now, you can either play entirely with players on your platform of choice, or you can restore your game to default settings.
As a cross-play bug, this issue should be resolved in a minor hotfix, which would mean that players will not have to actually download a patch. Nevertheless, we’ll update this article when Embark has officially fixed the issues with cross-play.
