EA’s Battlefield 6 is already known to have the best-selling launch of the long-running multiplayer FPS series, but the game’s success is somehow even larger than at first thought.
Following the base game’s phenomenal sales and the launch of its free-to-play Battle Royale option RedSec, the multiplayer FPS game is said to have raked in the highest launch revenue of any game over the past three years.
This comes after the latest release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, an already maligned shooter hampered by an unsatisfying campaign and atrocious, egregious AI art. While last year’s Black Ops 6 raked in a billion dollars, EA’s shooter may have actually eclipsed even that.
Via a report by Circana, a video game analytics and marketing firm, senior director Mat Piscatella explained that the launch sales of Battlefield 6 already surpassed the lifetime sales of Battlefield 1 throughout the month of October. For comparison, BF1 was formerly the highest-selling game in the series.
Piscatella reports that Battlefield 6 is currently the number one selling game on all three platforms it’s available on: PC, Xbox and PlayStation. (Of course, right now, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is the highest-selling Nintendo Switch game.) However, on PlayStation, 2K’s annual NBA game is pushing BF6 down to second place for annual sales.
“Battlefield 6 debuted as the best-selling game of 2025 year-to-date,” the analyst explained. “Battlefield 6 is currently the best-selling game of 2025 on both the Xbox and the PC aggregated storefront charts, while ranking 2nd year-to-date on PlayStation (behind only NBA 2K26).”
What’s most impressive is just how massive the launch of Battlefield 6 has been. EA’s modern military shooter isn’t just the best-selling game in the series, and it isn’t just leading platform sales for this period. It’s the single biggest game launch since 2022.
“Battlefield 6 produced the highest single month US physical & digital full game tracked dollar sales total in 3 years. The last title to generate a larger full game tracked dollar sales total in a single month was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II,” Piscatella explained.
Alongside sales of the base game, Battlefield 6 has also benefited from the sale of additional cosmetics and other microtransactions with the game’s community vocally policing the extremity of new skins.
While BF6 has seen an amazing launch, there are still issues to work through. At the time of writing, the game’s bot issue is still out of control, and there’s a desperate need for bigger maps that bring the true chaos of the series back into the spotlight. Despite all that, it’s still pretty damn good.
