Following years of absences, Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine finally has a release date for PlayStation 5.
Announced alongside Saros and Deus Ex Remastered at the PlayStation State of Play, Insomniac Games’ new Marvel superhero game brings the iconic mutant to PS5 with extreme violence.
Releasing in Fall 2026, Marvel’s Wolverine still has a long time to go. The new PS5 game follows a Wolverine as an “unreliable narrator” that’s a “ball of rage and fury”.
In the State of Play announcement, Insomniac Games confirmed that this version of Wolverine will be played by Liam McIntyre.
Insomniac Games confirmed that players will get to see more of Marvel’s Wolverine in Spring 2026 with new gameplay presumably being shown in another State of Play prior to the game’s Fall release.
“Become a living weapon. As he searches for answers about his past, Wolverine will do whatever it takes – unleashing brutal claw combat, violent rage, and relentless determination – to cut through the mystery of the man he used to be,” reads the game’s description.
During the announcement, Insomniac Games confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine aims to be just as violent as the character is known to be. Alongside improvements to graphics rendering, the game features a newly designed blood system that will allow players to commit extremely gory kills.
Alongside the game’s titular character, players will also meet a number of other characters from the X-Men comics, including Mystique. Additionally, players will explore a number of locations including Japan, Canada and more.
Insomniac Games didn’t touch on the rumours of the studio’s upcoming Spider-Man spin-off game focusing on Venom. Additionally, there’s still no word on the studio’s next Spider-Man game which is set to feature the character of Cindy Moon.
