Fortnite is rolling out a major refund change after growing player backlash over some cosmetics. Starting Tuesday, Epic Games will allow players to instantly refund select items and get V-Bucks back. The company has already begun processing refunds via player support, and the upcoming refund system will make this process smoother and faster.
This decision comes after backlash surrounding the Fortnite x D4vd collaboration, which introduced several cosmetics. The collaboration quickly came under fire after recent controversy with the artist. D4vd was charged with a first-degree murder on April 20, and shortly after, Epic stepped in with refunds.
The company has confirmed this information on the X account, revealing that the new refund system will be automatic.
How to get a refund for D4vd items in Fortnite?
Earlier this month, D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was arrested in connection with a serious criminal case. A few days later, the artist was charged with a first-degree murder, which is why many Fortnite players wanted his cosmetics to be removed entirely. As a response, Epic Games has announced new self-service refunds.
These refunds will be available starting Tuesday, April 28. Players who purchased any of the affected items will be able to refund them and get their V-Bucks back. This includes D4vd’s Locker Bundle, a collection of cosmetic items that costs 3,000 V-Bucks.
“We hear the concerns. We have a bunch of changes weโre rolling out over time. The first one will be available on Tuesday April 28th, when anyone who purchased one of these items will be able to get an immediate self-service refund,” Fortnite posted on X, while also adding that players can request refunds for the cosmetics through the player support before the new feature goes live.

These are all the cosmetics eligible for the refund:
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| d4vd’s Locker Bundle | 3,000 V-Bucks |
| Locked & Loaded Jam Track | 500 V-Bucks |
| What Are You Waiting For Jam Track | 500 V-Bucks |
| Feel It Emote | 500 V-Bucks |
At the moment, it’s unknown if Epic Games will end up removing these items from Fortnite for good. However, this is very unlikely. Players who already purchased the cosmetics will be able to keep them, and considering they may never return due to the controversy, the items will probably end up being among the rarest items in Fortnite.
In the meantime, it appears that Fortnite is lowering skin prices for the first time. Epic is also offering a couple ofย free skins in Fortnite, as well as aย free car for a limited time.
