Fortnite’s creator economy will get a couple of massive changes soon. Epic Games recently outlined a plan to allow creative players to earn even more money from their islands. More specifically, creators will soon be able to sell their digital items in Fortnite and make extra money.

Epic even clarified that players will receive 100% of the V-Bucks value for a year, which is massive. Furthermore, the game developer hinted at new UEFN tools that will be released soon.

Fortnite creators will be able to sell their digital items by the end of the year

Since the release of UEFN in March 2023, Epic Games has paid out more than $722 million to creators. This number will get even higher, as creators will soon be able to sell their digital items. This new monetization system will be implemented in December, and until the end of 2026, creators will earn 100% of the V-Bucks value. Starting in 2017, this rate will be decreased to 50%.

“Developers will use a Verse-based API and new UEFN tools to create and offer purchasable durable items and consumable items in their games,” Epic wrote in the latest blog post. We will get more details about these tools soon, so stay tuned!

Another big addition is the Sponsored Row, which is scheduled to come out in November. Fortnite creators will be able to pay Epic to be featured in this row, which will be fantastic for map promotions. The best part? 100% of the money earned through Sponsored Row will go into the engagement payout pool, boosting the revenue for all creators!

This sponsored rate will also go down to 50% starting in 2017, ensuring a reduced, yet consistent boost in earnings for all UEFN creators.
