After Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani warned players that they’ll be sh*ting their pants last week, the ongoing Automaton invasion campaign for Helldivers 2 is reaching a boiling point. Following a week of hacked communications from the robotic enemy forces, it seems that the Cyborgs are ready to make their move.
Last seen in the original Helldivers game, Cyborg soldiers have been absent from the Automaton forces of Helldivers 2. However, in the latest video released on Arrowhead’s official social channels, the terrifying half-human abominations have shown their face, and announced their return.
“Freedom,” the robotic-voiced democracy-haters spewed in a new video. “You enslaved us in the name of freedom. You tried to eradicate us in the name of freedom. We endured. We survived. We are the Cyborg Legion, and now we are free. Leave us and there will be peace. Else be annihilated.”
The video was accompanied by text only shown in binary with the title reading “HELLO WORLD”, and the description reading: “THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE. RETURN IMMEDIATELY.”
For the first time, the video also showed the face of a Cyborg Legion soldier in Helldivers 2, a pale fleshy warrior with glowing red eyes. I’m not sure about you guys, but I think this thing needs to be eliminated as soon as humanly possible.
It’s not known just how present the Cyborg Legion will be in Helldivers 2, but their appearance suggests a substantial overhaul to Automaton forces. Additionally, the enemy’s latest messaging suggests a major move towards Super Earth as players continue to push forward to invade the robotic homeworld of New Cyberstan.
Automaton Cyborgs were once major threats in the original Helldivers game, but were not present in the sequel due to their crushing defeat at the hands of players. However, the enemy is now back, and seemingly stronger than ever. Thank Super Earth we have a brand-new tank to shoot them with.
