Helldivers 2’s 6.0.0 update is going live right now with a new major order tasking the soldiers of Super Earth with invading the Automaton Homeworld of New Cyberstan. After Arrowhead teased that a lot of Helldivers are going to die, we now know why.
The new update, which has just launched alongside the new Siege Breakers Warbond, has already dropped the first stage of its Major Order with players now marching towards New Cyberstan with a host of new weapons on their back.
For the full patch notes, check this video here, as developer Arrowhead Game Studios has released hundreds of changes for the brilliant co-op shooter. The update comes with a slew of bug fixes, improvements to melee weapons, and much, much more.
Super Earth has confirmed that the Automaton Collective has stolen the schematics for the Star of Peace, forcing the hand of democracy to push back and take the fight to the bots. As players push towards Cyberstan, we have access to a brand new vehicle that will help us to deliver democracy in the best way possible: a bloody tank.
In the update, players will be able to use the Bastion Tank, a new vehicle that can “roll over entrenched enemies” with “unrivalled firepower and defence on the battlefield”. The new tank is a cooperative vehicle with everyone having to work together to use the vehicle effectively.
The new major order has a restriction, though, with players having to complete the mission with 200 million reinforcements. If players fail this task and die too often, the Major Order will fail, and the assault on Cyberstan will be stopped. We can’t let Super Earth fail.
Following a rough six month period for the game, Arrowhead Game Studios is back and better than ever, and this new campaign shows just how cool Helldivers 2 continues to be more than a year after launch. But, when we win, how will this alter the game? Will bots disappear? Will they come back harder? First, let’s destroy, then worry about the rest later.
The fight against the Automaton Homeworld is still part of the game’s ongoing Into the Unjust campaign, a scenario that first saw us take the fight to the Termanids. So far, we’ve fought bugs and bots, but the prospect of taking the fight to The Illuminate may introduce a whole new galaxy to the fray.
