The long-awaited reunion is finally happening, after a decade of temporal twists and emotional whirlwinds. Life is Strange: Reunion serves (as far as we know) as the upcoming finale to the Max and Chloe saga. Developed by Deck Nine Games, this direct sequel to Double Exposure brings the “Partners in Time” back together for one last chance to rewrite their destiny. Unlike previous entries, Reunion is not episodic. Instead, the entire story will be available to play from day one. So letโ€™s find out when we can start time-diving again.

Life is Strange: Reunion is going to be released on March 26, 2026. While console players can expect a “rolling midnight” release on March 26, PC players on Steam and the Microsoft Store will follow a synchronized global unlock. Hereโ€™s the breakdown:

Platforms and Compatibility

Life is Strange: Reunion is a true current-gen experience, built from the ground up to leverage the latest hardware. As such, the game is skipping older consoles, including PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so that the ambitious "inferno" particle effects and timeline-shifting mechanics run without compromise.

The game will be available on the following platforms at launch:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PC (through Steam and Microsoft Store)

A Note on Nintendo Switch

While many previous entries in the series eventually found a home on the Nintendo Switch, Square Enix has stated they have "nothing to announce at this time" regarding a Nintendo platform. Given the technical demands of the new engine, rumours suggest a port might have to wait for future Nintendo hardware rather than even the Switch 2.

Gameplay Features and Whatโ€™s New

Life is Strange: Reunion aims to bring gameplay that feels both familiar and revolutionary. It marks the first time players alternate between Max and Chloe as playable protagonists in a single story. At Caledon University, Max is a photography teacher who returns from a weekend away to find her campus engulfed in a literal inferno. To stop the disaster, she must push her resurgent Rewind power to its limits, travelling back three days through a single polaroid to discover the origin of the fire.

While Max manipulates the timeline to undo mistakes and solve four-dimensional environmental puzzles, Chloe provides the raw, grounded perspective. Haunted by impossible memories of a life she didn't live (a side effect of Max's reality-warping in Double Exposure), Chloe relies on her razor-sharp Backtalk ability. She navigates the university's social hierarchy, using her quick wit and intimidating presence to extract information from suspects and access restricted areas that Maxโ€™s academic standing would not allow. Together, their contrasting skills create a gameplay loop where the past is rewritten to protect a future that is constantly threatening to burn down.
