Marvel Rivals has issued another major ban wave, and this one is aimed directly at players using newly updated cheats. NetEase confirmed that hundreds of accounts have been permanently banned after the latest update, with some severe cases also receiving device bans. The developer also warned that the same cheat signatures have now been added to its automatic penalty system, meaning future offenders should be caught much faster.
The crackdown comes shortly after the latest Marvel Rivals update, which appears to have triggered a new wave of cheat promotion. According to NetEase, its system detected players using disallowed assist programs, client tampering, and other unauthorized tools after the patch went live.
Marvel Rivals is taking a harder stance against cheaters
NetEase listed hundreds of banned accounts in its latest announcement. While many of them were low-ranked players, the list also included accounts from Grandmaster, Celestial, and One Above All, showing that the ban wave reached the top end of ranked play as well.
The list of banned players was shared in the latest post on the game’s blog. The list shows parts of players’ UIDs, names, and in-game ranks.

The developer also confirmed that some cases were serious enough to go beyond a regular account ban. Three accounts were listed separately for severe violations, with their devices permanently banned from the game. This is one of the clearest warnings NetEase has given so far. Using cheats, scripts, game modifiers, or third-party tools can now lead to permanent penalties, and the studio appears to be moving faster when new tools appear.
“For severe cases involving repeated violations, organized distribution, or penalty evasion, we will implement further restrictive measures as necessary,” the developer clarified. “These include, but are not limited to: account bans, device bans, and IP bans, to continuously safeguard our fair gaming environment.”
NetEase also addressed a rumor that spread online after the update. Some players claimed that Marvel Rivals’ anti-cheat system could be bypassed through launch parameters, but the developer denied this. According to the studio, the anti-cheat launches with the game client and cannot be disabled separately. The parameters only hide the anti-cheat pop-up window, NetEase said. In other words, players are not actually turning off the system, even if it looks that way from the outside.

Players who believe they were banned unfairly can still contact Customer Support and submit an appeal. However, NetEase made it clear that confirmed cheat use will not be treated lightly, especially now that the latest cheat signatures are already part of the automated system.
For a competitive hero shooter, this kind of enforcement is important. Marvel Rivals is still building its ranked scene, and repeated cheat waves can quickly damage trust if they are not handled early.
