As previously confirmed, Daredevil is the next hero to join Marvel Rivals. The lawyer from Hell’s Kitchen will be added to the hero lineup on Friday, October 10, becoming the game’s 43rd hero. While this should be exciting, many fans are disappointed with Daredevil’s role.

On Tuesday night, NetEase revealed Daredevil’s role, alongside several new things coming to the game. The game developer will add cross-progression, which is something that players have wanted for a long time. Unfortunately, what players did not want is another Duelist, and that is precisely what Daredevil is going to be.

Is Daredevil a Duelist in Marvel Rivals?

Daredevil is a Duelist, the Marvel Rivals developer confirmed with the latest Dev Vision video. While his kit hasn’t been revealed yet, we should get a gameplay video within a few days. For now, we do know that he will have a Team-Up Ability called Beastial Hunt with The Punisher.

Considering that Daredevil will be a new hero in Marvel Rivals, we expect him to be a Team-Up Anchor as well. This means that he will get a seasonal bonus to his base stat throughout the entire season. Since he’s a Duelist, the bonus will likely boost his damage by 10%.

While many players consider Daredevil a great addition, they are disappointed with his role. Once Season 4.5 comes out, the game will have 23 Duelists, which is simply too much. To put it in perspective, more than 53% characters will be damage dealers. Considering that Marvel Rivals has two more roles, Vanguards and Strategists, this number looks way too high.

The 2-2-2 team composition is still the most popular, having a 62-percent pick rate in the current season. It’s also the only team comp that has a win rate of more than 50%. In comparison, a three-Duelist composition’s win rate is only 46%, which emphasizes the importance of two tanks. However, with so many Duelists in the game, it’s hard to see how the 2-2-2 comp will remain the meta in the future. With the release date of Marvel Rivals Season 4.5 under two weeks away, the meta shift might be just around the corner.

Marvel Rivals developer is aware of the issue with too many Duelists

NetEase is aware of the imbalance of heroes in the game and will work to fix it in the future. Unfortunately, the game creator clarified that this is not an easy task that can be done overnight. The hero lineup is locked for the next 12 months, and we can only hope that some Duelists will be reworked into other roles.

For now, let’s just be happy that we haven’t seen any original characters in Marvel Rivals.
