Deadpool’s role has been one of the biggest mysteries in Marvel Rivals over the past two weeks. The fan-favorite character was revealed as a Season 6 hero earlier in December, and NetEase added him to the game shortly after. Initially, Deadpool was a Vanguard, but his role has been changed twice since then.

It’s clear that the Marvel Rivals developer is playing games with the community, as the character’s role is still unknown. While it’s clear that NetEase is trolling players, there might be another explanation as to why Wade Wilson’s role keeps changing with every update.

Will Deadpool be a Strategist in Marvel Rivals?

When Deadpool was first added as a Marvel Rivals hero, he was a Vanguard. The character is not playable at the moment, as you will unlock him in 2026. An update later, NetEase changed the Merc With a Mouth to Duelist, making players think that he would be another damage dealer. However, that is no longer the case.

The latest Marvel Rivals update arrived on Thursday, December 25. Unsurprisingly, Deadpool’s role was changed once again, as the upcoming hero is now a Strategist. Adding another healer would make sense, but there might be more to it than meets the eye.

Deadpool is currently a Strategist, but this may not be his final role in Marvel Rivals. While everyone thinks that NetEase is trolling the community, there is also a chance that Deadpool will be the first hybrid hero in the game. Several heroes can already play different roles, and the next one could possibly switch to any role mid-match, which would be interesting.

After all, NetEase has promised big things coming to Marvel Rivals in 2026, and a true hybrid hero would be a great start.
