Marvel Rivals players who lose ranked points because of cheaters will soon have a way to get them back. NetEase is adding a new anti-cheat compensation system, and it directly targets one of the most frustrating problems in competitive play.

Starting later this week, players who encounter a cheater in a competitive match, successfully report them, and have the system verify the cheating will be fully refunded all Ranked Points lost during that match. It is a major change for Marvel Rivals, especially for players who have been grinding ranked and losing progress through no fault of their own.

Marvel Rivals is making ranked losses against cheaters less punishing

The new system will not simply punish cheaters in the hero shooter. It will also help affected players recover from the damage those matches caused. If a cheater is verified, every ranked point lost in that match will be returned, which should make competitive play much better.

This comes shortly after NetEase’s recent effort to combat cheaters in Marvel Rivals and a ban wave that affected hundreds of accounts. The developer has already been issuing permanent bans, showing that it wants to protect ranked matches from players using unfair tools, exploits, or other methods to gain an advantage.

For ranked players, this is one of the most useful anti-cheat changes NetEase could make. Permanent bans remove cheaters from the game, but they do not automatically fix the damage already done to players who lost matches against them. The upcoming change solves this problem, as refunding those points gives players a reason to keep reporting cheaters instead of simply accepting the loss.

This system should also make the ranked leaderboard more trustworthy over time. If cheaters are removed and affected players are compensated, the system becomes less punishing for legitimate players and more hostile toward anyone trying to abuse it.

NetEase will still need to keep improving detection, since compensation depends on the system confirming that cheating happened. However, this is another strong step in the right direction and shows that Marvel Rivals is treating ranked integrity as a priority.
