Marvel Rivals Season 8 may still be underway, but attention has already shifted to the game’s next major update. Several leaks and datamines suggest that Season 9 could introduce two new playable heroes, a brand-new map, and a fresh storyline inspired by one of Marvel’s darkest comic arcs.

Jubilee and The Hood are the biggest Marvel Rivals Season 9 leak

The biggest rumor surrounding Marvel Rivals Season 9 is the arrival of Jubilee and The Hood. Leaks indicate that the developer will continue its pattern of adding two heroes per season, with one arriving at launch and the other coming in the mid-season update, which should drop in the first half of August.

According to dataminers, Jubilee is expected to be a Strategist, using fireworks and explosive energy-based abilities to support her team. Ability names found in the game files include Fireworks, Atomic Bomb, and Atomic Bomb-Excitation, although their final functionality could change before release.

The Hood, on the other hand, is rumored to join the Vanguard class. Leaked abilities suggest a much more aggressive playstyle, including dual pistols, protective barriers, clones, and even a demonic transformation as his ultimate ability.

The release of Marvel Rivals Season 9 may also introduce a brand-new battleground called Thebes. According to leaked game files, the map is based on ancient Egypt and appears to be closely connected to the upcoming storyline.

NetEase has already teased an Age of Apocalypse narrative through recent gallery cards and story content, leading many players to believe that Thebes will serve as the centerpiece of the new season. However, the new map may not arrive on the first day of the season. Instead, we expect the game developer to release it in late July.

In addition to the new heroes and the brand-new map, NetEase will almost certainly release more balance changes. These will be revealed a few days before Season 9 goes live, and there is no doubt they will shake up the meta once again.
