Konami has confirmed that the Silent Hill series has officially sold over 10 million copies since its terrifying PlayStation debut in 1999.
Following the release of Neobards Entertainmentโs Silent Hill F, which launched as the best-selling game in the long-running horror series, Konami confirmed that the series has hit a new major milestone.
While Silent Hill F impressively sold over a million copies in less than a week, Konami notes that its predecessors sales over the past year have also helped. Bloober Teamโs Silent Hill 2 Remake, which was previously the best-selling game in the series, has sold 2.5 million copies since its PS5 and PC release.
“[The] Silent Hill series has shipped over 10 million copies, and [Silent Hill f’s] predecessor, Silent Hill 2, has shipped over 2.5 million copies,โ Konami said in a recent video report caught by Gematsu.
Despite its critical pedigree its 26 years of existence, the Silent Hill series has never been a major seller on any platform. While the original PlayStation 1 game sold over two million copies back in 1999, its successors failed to capture the same level of commercial success, until now.
Nevertheless, Konami is attempting to give Silent Hill its dues with the seriesโ newfound resurgence. Alongside the recent releases of SH2 Remake and the just-released F, Konami has already announced numerous upcoming games in the series.
Silent Hill Townfall, a new narrative focused game by Annapurna Interactive will tell several short stories in the horror universe. While the game has no release date at the time of writing, it is expected to launch sometime next year.
Additionally, Polish developer Bloober Team is working on a full remake of the original game in the series, putting players back in the role of Harry Mason as he searches for his daughter Cheryl in the titular town. While no additional details have been released, the game is expected to be a major expansion over the original. There is no release date.
