Stardew Valley is getting more official additional content sometime in the future with the addition of the upcoming 1.7 update. Created with a brand-new team helping out, ConcernedApe’s farming game is about to get even bigger, and perhaps even cosier.

Until the next official update arrives, players have two options: either play the game as is, or experience the countless, ambitious mods made by the game’s talented fanbase. While not as impressive as some of the game’s massive expansion mods, fans have been creating new Halloween mods to make the cutesy farming game even cuter this holiday.

Created by modder RivalRabbit, the new Em’s Spooky Halloween Pets mod adds, well, as you’d expect, some new spooky pets for Halloween. With the mod installed, there will be a host of new cuddly creatures you can adopt from Marnie to have a “spooky pet all year round”.

The mod includes numerous different looks for cats, dogs and turtles. Cats can have a skeleton, scarecrow, bones, spirit, ghost or pumpkin skin; dogs can look like mummies, skeletons, spirits, or lanterns; and turtles can be more boney, dress up as a pirate, or be a little pumpkin.

Look how adorable all of these little babies are.

It’s admittedly a very simple addition to Stardew Valley, but it is a very cute addition to the game, and one that should help your theming this Halloween. You can also extend your Halloween theme with additional mods that bring the best holiday to the game with more style.

For example, modder Kaycakes’ Halloween Vibes UI mod adds a slew of bats and other goodies to the game. Additionally, Bog’s Halloween Pumpkin Crop brings some beautiful new giant pumpkins to the game that were inspired by pumpkins found in the creator’s IRL garden.

This looks absolutely sublime.

Finally, there’s the new Abrah’s Halloween Recipes mod, created by, well, Abrah. This small modification brings some cutesy Halloween-themed dishes to the game that you can cook in your kitchen, “all handcrafted in pixel perfection to fit the cozy magical atmosphere of Stardew Valley”.

The new recipes include Bat Pasta (gross), a Moonlight Eclair, the classic Pumpkin Spice Latte, a Dusk Cake, and wibbly-wobbly Slime Truffles. Some of those sound absolutely rancid, but a Moonlight Eclair would last seconds in my hands.

These are all mods that have been created in the past few months, and there’s a handful of other great Halloween mods that you can also grab to turn Stardew Valley into a true Halloween experience.
