Saber Interactive’s Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is probably the most popular 40K game of all time. While Space Marine 3 stays cooking behind-the-scenes for a number of years, Saber is still working on updating the second game in the series with new weapons, operations, and even a new class.
With the release of the game’s new 12.0 update, all Space Marine 2 players now have access to the Techmarine class. Announced last year, this is the first new class to release for the game since its 2024 launch, and offers a brand-new playstyle for the action-packed third-person shooter.
Equipped with a unique Servo-Gun ability, the Techmarine can lock onto enemies that are in a direct line of sight. With the ability active, the gun will continue to fire at selected foes while you move around the environment, slicing at foes with your brand-new Omnissian Axe.

“We hope you will really like the new class. We’ve tried to make sure that this class plays differently from the rest,” game director Dmitry Grigorenko explained in the game’s patch notes. While the class has seen some large rebalancing since its arrival on the private test servers, it still offers a brand-new experience for players.
Additionally, the game comes with a brand-new Operation dubbed Disruption. This new map sees the Space Marine forces deployed to the Hive City of Avarax to reinforce the overwhelmed Cadian defences against a massive Tyranid swarm. As you move through the map, you’ll join a huge Dreadnought to eliminate Thousand Sons forces that are skulking through the city’s lower levels. Death to Chaos!
Additionally, players will be able to use the new PvE equipment, the Restorative Stimms, which will help to encourage “aggressive playstyles” in the game. Additionally, the game now has a Siege Host Migration feature for when a server crash occurs during a Siege Mode match, 21 new battlefield conditions, and even a custom stratagems mode for PvE.
Players will also be able to use the game’s brand-new VO Selector for both PvE and PvP, allowing players to make use of hundreds of new paid voice lines for different Space Marine chapters. This should allow players to have even more customisation over their bespoke characters, although it does require handing out some money for the benefit.
With all of this in mind, it’s clear that Saber is far from done with updates to Space Marine 2. Considering the fact that the studio is still supporting its World War Z game with new updates, there’s a lot of life left in Saber’s 40K game, especially now that modders are bringing custom maps into the game.
