Nexon has confirmed that Arc Raiders has sold 16 million copies since launch. After hitting the 14 million mark back in February, Embark Studios’ extraction shooter has continued to sell millions of copies.

Confirmed in the publisher’s latest earnings report, Arc Raiders has sold two million additional copies over the last two months. Despite falling player numbers, new sales of the game are still going strong across PC and console.

In the earnings report, Nexon confirmed that the game has been the largest new IP in the company’s history. Additionally, the publisher hopes that the game will continue to sell as the year continues with hopes that the game’s post-launch content will bringing in new players and reignite original supporters.

Nexon explained that the game is “now settling in with a large and deeply local player community” that will continue to support the game for years to come. While the publisher noted that the game’s update structure has changed since launch, they hope it will be “great for reactivating users who finished the original game, and for attracting all-new players”.

As for the aforementioned revised update structure, Arc Raiders will now release two major updates a year instead of focusing on a monthly cadence. In a recent interview, executive producer Aleksander Grondal explained that the studio “wanted to do monthly content updates”, but that meant the studio couldn’t release meaningful updates.

“Putting out content updates every month, I think the ambition was great to keep people engaged and interested,” he said. “I think, though–and the community and the players are telling us the same–that they feel like some of these updates aren’t really hitting the mark in terms of what they want, in terms of impact. And we as a team feel that as well.”

As for the future, Arc Raiders is planning to bring major revisions to its existing gameplay structure. Embark has already confirmed a plan to bring an overhauled Skill Tree to the game, which is launching later this year in October. Additionally, the team has teased new features such as player trading and a full 3D hub for Speranza.

Some of this upcoming content has been discovered in a recent datamine which found references to the game’s upcoming Frozen Trail map. The datamine found references to a new trading feature, a new Clans feature, and more. It’s evident that Embark is far from done with Arc Raiders.
