As Arc Raiders continues its popularity streak, the offers of a TV and film adaptation have already started rolling in for the extraction shooter.

As the game tops Steam’s Christmas sales charts and pushes over 12 million copies, the multiplayer game is not a hot IP ripe for adaptation. Similar to Helldivers 2, which already has a movie adaptation in the works, the series is already being eyed up by producers.

Speaking to GamesBeat, Embark Studios CEO Patrick Söderlund revealed that there has already been a large number of offers for the new multiplayer game. However, there’s currently no plans for an official adaptation.

“I can’t tell you how many companies have reached out to us wanting to make a TV series [and] movie out of this IP,” Söderlund told the outlet. However, the CEO explained that an adaptation would need to be done in “the right way”.

“We [wouldn’t] mind doing that. It would be fun, but it needs to be done in the right way,” the CEO said. “I hope that we will do that. I think the IP fits quite well with something like that.”

Söderlund confirmed that Embark Studios does not “have anyone working on a TV or film adaptation yet”, stressing that last word. However, it does seem like the offers are coming in thick and fast for the new IP as it continues to become the hottest new game around.

It’s unsurprising to see producers and film studios attempt to nab the rights to Arc Raiders right now. While there are still a large number of poor adaptations, video game TV and film is quickly becoming a major trend as comic book movies wane in popularity.

With the runaway success of Amazon’s Fallout series and films such as Sonic the Hedgehog and The Super Mario Bros Movie, we should expect more adaptations in the coming future.
